The Changing Planet

Grades K-1 - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

$160 for non-members/$150 members

Take a look at how the Earth has changed through the ages. Learn all about our Sun - what it is and how it affects us. Make a sun dial and find out what time it is. Take a look at the Northern Lights and then create your own Aurora pictures. Find out what causes the lights. Learn what fossils can be found in Virginia. Using a discovery box, find some of your own fossils. Find out what they, and the dirt around them, tell us. Discover a tar pit and what it tells us about the Ice Age.

The Changing Planet II

Grades 2-3 - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

$160 non-members/$150 members

Take a look at how the Earth has changed through the ages.Understand our Sun, what it is and how it affects us. Solve the mystery of Mar's disappearing atmosphere and the Moon's shrinking mass. Follow Storm Chasers, and discover the tools they use to help us predict the weather. Learn what fossils can be found in Virginia, where you can find them, and what they tell us about Virginia's past. Discover a tar pit and what it tells us about the Ice Age. Make your own Moon Regolith slides, and compare the difference between Earth, Moon and Mars' soils.

Grades 4-6 - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

$160 non-members/$150 members

Take a look at how the Earth has changed through the ages.Understand our Sun, what it is and how it affects us. Learn what fossils can be found in Virginia, where you can find them, and what they tell us about Virginia's past. Discover a tar pit and what it tells us about the Ice Age. Make Moon Regolith slides, and compare the difference between Earth and Moon soils. Learn about NASA's different satellites and find out how they help us learn about our planet and its atmosphere. Take a look at Mount St Helen's volcanic eruption and find out what changes it made in the air and on land. Then make a Mount St. Helen's ash slide.
