Flight of the Butterflies I

Spring into fun when you take flight on the wings of a Monarch butterfly!  Learn the ups and downs of life as a Monarch.  Discover the different stages of the Monarch life cycle as you observe live Monarch Larvae. Find out about the Monarch Butterflies’ habitat. Discover why the Monarch is sometimes called the “milkweed butterfly.”  Identify the challenges Monarch Butterflies face when they migrate and see what you can do to help.  Create your own caterpillar and turn it into a butterfly. Experience the remarkable Monarch butterfly migration on the giant IMAX screen with Flight of the Butterflies 3D.

Mission to Mars I
April 4-5
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Uncover the mysteries of the Red Planet with hands-on Martian fun!  Construct scale models of the Earth, moon, & Mars to discover their size and scale.  Create a model of the solar system.  Build and experiment with rockets to investigate how variations in a rocket’s nose cone influences distance of flights.  Create a 3-D model of a community on Mars.  Join a Rover Race and discover the challenges of operating a rover on Mars.  Practice landing your rover safely when you participate in an egg drop competition.

Learn about metamorphosis as you look into the insect life cycle and observe live Monarch Larvae. Discover the meaning behind the color of Monarch Butterflies. Find out the importance of mimicry for Monarch Butterflies. Discover why the Monarch is sometimes called the “milkweed butterfly.”  Identify the challenges Monarch Butterflies face when they migrate and see what you can do to help.  Create your own Monarch origami butterfly. Experience the remarkable Monarch butterfly migration on the giant IMAX screen with Flight of the Butterflies 3D.

 

Mission to Mars II

Uncover the mysteries of the Red Planet with hands-on Martian fun!   Construct scale models of the Earth, moon, & Mars to discover their size and scale.  Play a game where you’ll create a mission that balances science return with mission constraints.  Build and experiment with rockets to investigate how variations in a rocket’s nose cone influences distance of flights.  Reflect on your community to see what it would take to live on Mars.  Create community plan ideas that use technologies to help overcome environmental and cultural constraints of living on Mars.  Create a 3-D model of a community on Mars.  Practice landing your rover safely when you participate in an egg drop competition.
