Permanent Exhibits

Over 100 interactive exhibits detail NASA's historic achievements, many of which occurred in Hampton's own backyard. The following is a preview of exhibits:

Adventures in Flight gallery
The Adventures in Flight gallery takes visitors on an aviation adventure when they “wing walk” on a Jenny bi-plane, see a replica 1903 Wright Flyer, explore a DC-9 passenger jet, ride in a WWII bomber, become an air traffic controller, sit in the cockpit of an F/A-22 fighter jet, pilot an airplane, and more!

Air & Space Craft

See detailed fact pages highlighting the incredible air and spacecraft on display at the Center.

Ham Radio Exhibit
New communications. View history and cutting edge technology at our
world-class, fully-automatic, digital Amateur Radio satelllite station. Discover
how Ham Radio is exploring the next big steps in digital technology and its
impact on personal communications in the next few years.

Space Racers

This hands-on, minds-on exhibit features Eagle, Robyn, Hawk, Starling, and their fellow Space Racers as they guide families through the solar system and beyond, encouraging pretend play and space exploration! Rocket Launch encourages the engineer in little explorers where they can design their own spacecraft for a Mars mission and build a rocket with oversized building blocks in Build A Rocket.

After more than three years of planning, the Virginia Air & Space Center has
opened the first phase of its new hands-on space gallery,
