The
Hampton Carousel is a rare and beautiful example
of American folk art. Its prancing horses and elegant
chariots have charmed and delighted over 500,000
visitors since becoming a permanent structure in
Carousel Park.

Over the past 16 years the carousel
horses have been impacted by visitor use and building
conditions.
Currently, the horses need to be restored to museum
quality. Over the next year, the City of Hampton
will make many improvements to the building including
a new heating and air conditioning system and tempered
glass windows. These improvements will help preserve
the carousel for the future. Additionally, some
funds from the Friends of the Carousel Trust will
be used to restore the carousel horses. We intend
to send ten stately steeds off gracefully to the
barn for restoration in the next several months.
Please
consider making a gift today to the Foundation
of the Virginia Air & Space
Center to benefit the Hampton Carousel Restoration
Project. Through
community support we can ensure that the Hampton
Carousel will continue to enchant children of all
ages for years to come!
